I am preparing to pursue graphic design courses after my graduation in NID, but I don't want to enrol in any coaching centre. What are some books that coaching centers recommend that I refer to and prepare at home by myself?

Hello,

While joining a coaching centre can be beneficial for some individuals, it is definitely possible to prepare for graphic design courses on your own with the help of books and online resources. Here are some books that are often recommended for aspiring graphic designers:

"Thinking with Type" by Ellen Lupton: This book provides a comprehensive introduction to typography and its application in graphic design. It covers fundamental principles, techniques, and explores various typographic treatments.

"The Elements of Graphic Design" by Alex W. White: This book offers a thorough overview of the essential elements and principles of graphic design. It covers topics such as composition, colour, space, typography, and more.

"Graphic Design: The New Basics" by Ellen Lupton and Jennifer Cole Phillips: This book delves into the foundational principles of graphic design, including form, point, line, texture, scale, and hierarchy. It also explores contemporary design practices and processes.

"Grid Systems in Graphic Design" by Josef Müller-Brockmann: This classic book explores the use of grid systems in graphic design. It provides examples, case studies, and practical insights into creating well-structured layouts.

"Logo Design Love: A Guide to Creating Iconic Brand Identities" by David Airey: Focusing on logo design, this book offers valuable insights into the process of creating memorable and effective logos. It covers topics such as research, concept development, typography, and presentation.

Remember, in addition to these books, you can also explore online resources, tutorials, and practice exercises to further enhance your graphic design skills. Developing a strong portfolio and staying updated with industry trends will also be beneficial for your graphic design career.
