ABOUT UID

UID stands for United world institute of Design established in the year 2011. This Institute is one of the premier Design Institutes among India. UID under Karnavati University offers both under graduation and post graduation courses which is B. Des and M. Des. The University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). UID has collaborated with several organisations such as World Design Organisation (WDO), Cumulus, IFFTI and The Association of Commonwealth Universities.

UID DAT

UID organise their own entrance examination, which is call UID DAT. DAT here stands for design aptitude test. UID DAT is to take admission of students who are willing to pursue UG, PG and PhD courses from UID. 

UID DAT is a written test with the duration of 3 hours. This is a test to examine candidate's Design aptitude skills. This written paper will consist multiple choice type questions and subjective questions

MCQ types of questions will be on:

  • General Knowledge & IQ Test
  • Creative & Logical Reasoning
  • Quantitative Ability/Numeracy Test
  • Data Interpretation & Analytical Test

Subjective or descriptive types questions will be on:

  • Comprehension
  • Creative Thought Process
  • Sense of Composition
  • Sketching & Rendering
  • Originality of Ideas
  • Hand Skills

After clearing DAT candidates have to appear for 2 more rounds which are: situation test and portfolio evaluation

  • Situation test- candidates will be given situations and they have to make models on the basis of that situation. Candidates have to sketch and answer to the given questions. 
  • Portfolio evaluation- candidates in round 2 have to appear for a personal interview round where they have to show their portfolio. 

Eligibility FOR B. DES CANDIDATES-

  • To take admission in B. Des courses, candidates must complete their Class 12 with an aggregate of 50%,
  • Final selection of candidates will be based on the DAT scores and the performance in Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GDPI)

eligibility FOR M. DES CANDIDATES-

  • To take admission for M. Des candidates must have complete their graduation in the relevant stream from a recognised university
  • final selection of candidates will be based on the UID DAT scores and the performance in GDPI in case of M. Des admission. 

FOR INTEGRATED MASTERS PROGRAM-

  • Admission to Integrated Masters Programme, BDes + MDes is done on merit basis

FOR PHD ADMISSION-

  • To take Admission in PhD programme is based on UGC NET/ JRF/ TRF/ CSIR/ ICAR/ ICMR/ DBT/ DST/ GATE/ CAT scores
  • Candidates, who have completed master’s degree from a recognised university
  • Final selection of candidates is based on their entrance exam scores and their performance in PI and viva.
