NID DAT Exam Pattern Consists of three ranges – Written Exam (Prelims and Mains), Studio Test, and Personal Interview Round. NID DAT Exam Pattern consists of 70 marks for subjective questions and 30 marks for objective questions, moreover, there will be no negative marking for the exam. The syllabus varies for the guides provided thru NID DAT viz. B.Des and M.Des. NID DAT Exam Pattern had been updated for each BDes and MDes.

B.Des candidates are now required to add a theme poster as a PDF file on the topics.
M.Des candidates are to post an SoP with a 500-word limit as a PDF file.
Qualified candidates (who clear NID Cut-Off) will be known for the studio test and private interview.
The 2nd stage entails a 100-mark studio test which includes drawing/sketching, modeling, and team discussion.
In the 0.33 stage, an Interview is performed immediately after the studio check at the same center. A remaining NID Merit List of chosen candidates is prepared after this round.

NID DAT New Pattern for B.Des


Shortlisted candidates have to upload a PDF of a theme poster on the topics
The size of the PDF can be a most of 10 MB.
The theme poster can be in any media and must be made manually and a scanned reproduction of the same has to be uploaded inside the stipulated time digitally in A3 paper.


NID DAT New Pattern for M.Des


BDes shortlisted candidates ought to submit an SoP (statement of purpose).
The word restriction of the SoP is five hundred words and must be typed and uploaded as PDFs not exceeding the size of two MB.
A portfolio has to additionally be uploaded as a PDF with a measurement limit of 10 MB.
Candidates will be one after the other intimated on the subjects for the theme poster.
The window for upload will shut after a week.


NID DAT Marking Scheme

NID written exam consists of an offline exam of mixed nature. By blended nature, it is meant that the paper would contain both goal and subjective-type questions.

70% of the total questions are of a goal nature,
The remaining 30% of questions are subjective.
The two papers (objective and subjective) are held separately on an equal day.
There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
