No Ishita, M. Des doesn’t means 'ecademics'. M. Des means post graduation in masters course. Lets see whats M. Des course and how you can get into M. Des. 

WHAT IS M. DES? 

Full form of M. Des is Master of Design. It’s a 2 years postgraduate programme which provide various disciplines like Craft, Textiles, Publications, Media, Lifestyle Products, Graphics and User Experience Design etc. Masters of design is an advanced degree in the field of designing . 
Students from any stream can pursue M. Des but they should have a basic knowledge in design stream. After M.Des degree, students will get various fields opportunities like Industrial Engineering and Design, Product Research Analyst, Communication Design, Product Design and Engineering, Visual Design, Animation and Automotive Designing etc.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR M. DES

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or diploma in designing field with at least 50 per cent aggregate marks.
  • Candidates who have done bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering or any relevant stream, can also apply for the course.

ADMISSION PROCESS FOR M. DES

To get Admission in any government or private college, there are various entrance examinations. Some Private colleges have their own entrance examinations and private and government colleges take admission according to the score of some national level examinations as per their choice.
