WHAT IS NID? 

NID stands for National Institute of design, is nationally as well as internationally one of the finest educational and research institution which provide Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated Design courses both for under-graduates and post-graduates and doctoral levels.
National Institute for design is the first design Institute in India established by Indian government, Ford Foundation and the Sarabhai family  in the year 1961 at Ahmedabad. It was an autonomous all-India body. NID has been ranked as India’s No. 1 Design Institute. 
National Institute of Design has it’s total 7 campus all over India, such as, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Gandhinagar, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Assam. Some of the campuses provide B. Des and M. Des both and some provide only B. Des or only M. Des.

B. Des COURSES that NID OFFERS

AHMEDABAD CAMPUS

Name of the B. Des courses- Animation film design,  graphic design, product design, textile design, exhibition design, ceramic and glass design, furniture and interior design. 

ANDHRA PRADESH CAMPUS

UG courses such as B. Des Communication Design , B. Des Industrial Design and B. Des Textile and Apparel Design.

MADHYA PRADESH CAMPUS

B. Des courses NID Madhya Pradesh offers, such as Communication Design, Industrial Design and Textile and Apparel Design.

HARYANA CAMPUS

B. Des courses NID Haryana offers such as  communication design, industrial design and textile and apparel design.

ASSAM CAMPUS

B. Des courses such as Apparel design, communication design, Industrial Design.

Eligibility criteria for UG students at NID

Age limit-

  • General and general EWS candidates must be up to 20 years of age on or before June 30, 2003
  • OBC-Non Creamy Layer/ ST/ SC candidates get a relaxation of 3 years.
  • PwD reserved category candidates get an exemption of 5 years.

Qualifications-

Candidates must pass their 10+2 examination with any stream from any recognised board state or national level.

EXAMINATION-

To get into NID, interested candidates need to crack NID DAT. NID conduct an entrance examination called NID DAT which is a design aptitude test every year to take admission in B. Des and M. Des courses at NID. Candidates, willing to pursue design courses, must apply for NID DAT to get admission at NID.

NID DAT is divided in to two different parts: NID prelims and NID Mains.

After qualifying NID prelims and then Mains, candidates need to crack studio test and personal interview round. 
So, rather than basic eligibility criteria, the main criteria is to get a valid score or get.
