The authorities will publish the final merit list for all candidates who took the prelims and mains exams. The applicants' total scores will be computed by adding their results from both examinations. The table below shows the revised score weighting for the NID DAT M.Des prelims and mains exams.

Previously, the prelims exam had a 30% percentile score weighting and the mains exam had a 70% percentile score weighting.

The M.Des mains exam will be an online, computer-based test with a total of 100 points, according to the NID DAT Exam Pattern 2024. The test lasts 3 hours (180 minutes) in total.

The following tests are included in the NID DAT exam pattern 2024 for the M.Des mains exam:

The studio test consists of questions focused on hands-on practical projects such as drawing, sketching, doodling, model making, and so on. The examination will last 180 minutes. The test will be administered independently for each speciality.
Interview: Following the studio test, the interview will be place in the exam centers. This process will also be carried out independently, according to specialization.

NID DAT Exam Pattern 2024 for M.Des - Prelims

The M.Des prelims exam has been divided into two parts: part 1 and part 2. Part 1 consists of objective type questions, whereas Part 2 consists of subjective type questions. This test is taken offline and is worth 100 points.

A discipline or domain-specific test plus a Common DAT (Design Aptitude Test) form this test. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in both examinations.

Candidates can choose to take one or two discipline-specific tests.

Candidates taking one discipline-specific test plus the CDAT will have a total time of 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes).
Candidates taking two discipline-specific examinations and the CDAT will have a total time of 250 minutes (4 hours and 10 minutes).
