The National Institute of Design bases seat distribution entirely on candidates' performance in the NID DAT Result Mains examination, with the prelims examination serving only as a qualification test for NID DAT. After the main test, which determines rank, counseling is planned, at which point the cutoffs for various categories and institutions across India are made public. Based on the corresponding categories and cutoffs, candidates are then able to obtain seats.
Based on the relaxation criteria shown in the table below, applicants for the ST/SC/OBC-NCL/PwD categories will be deemed qualified for the NID DAT admission test.

In the fourth week of May 2024, the authorities is anticipated to announce the NID seat allocation for round 1. By the end of May 2024, the NID seat confirmation, document submission, and fee payment must all be finished.
