NATA is an entrance exam which is conducted by National Institute of advanced studies in architecture (NIASA) the body of council of Architecture in India. This entrance exam is a national level examination. Students who are willing to study Bachelor of architecture or some other relevant architecture courses at all recognized institutions across India, can give NATA after their 12th examination.

NATA syllabus:

NATA measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability by 2parted exams.
first part- paper based drawing test
second part- online test with MCQs on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and General Aptitude Test.

1. Drawing includes memory drawing, shades, shadows, 2D compositions, visualisation, perspective drawing etc. NATA drawing part is totally depend on your creativity and ability. You need to practice more and more to improve your skills and ideas. You need to be creative, because creativity is necessary in this field.

  • Determining the scale and proportion of objects, geometric composition, shape, building forms and elements, aesthetics, colour texture, harmony, and contrast.
  • Conceptualization and Visualization through structuring objects.
  • Drawing geometrical and abstract patterns.
  • Transform the form in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces, and volumes. Generating plan, elevation, and 3D objects.
  • 2D and 3D composition creation by giving it shapes and forms.
  • Perspective drawing, Sketching of urbans cape and landscape, Common day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment, etc., from memory.

3. Mathematics include algebra, logarithm, matrices, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, 3D coordination of geometry, theory of calculus, application of calculus, permutation and combination, statistics and probability.

4. NATA also includes questions from Physics and chemistry in which class 10-12 studies are important. As well as includes general aptitude test with mathematical reasoning, sets and relations.

Eligibility-

the eligibility criteria to study B. Arch, it is important to have physics, chemistry and mathematics in your 10+2 stream. So, if you are applying for NATA and don’t have Maths in your 10+2 stream then your exam is of no use.

After determining the drawing syllabus, it can be said that you must have a basic skill about drawing with a lot of creativity and idea about the objectivity or purpose of that drawing.
