Yes, Designers do get paid well.
Though, here I would like to add that there are numerous factors that will contribute in a good pay package like the brand, the profile which you hold, the job responsibilities you have to handle, the core competencies involved, the years of experience that you hold(*at the time of negotiating the package during the interview), and the industry as a whole.
As per the latest statistics, almost all the profiles in designing jobs are quite well paid. Some designing jobs where a considerable technical involvement is required, are a bit higher paid, like the UX/UI Designers where the average base salary starts from 6-8 Lakhs P.A.; Automotive Designers - the base salary begins at 7-8 Lakhs. and there are numerous more.
