Design is Intelligence Made Visible So, Yes. NID is one of the places to make that happen. National Institute of Design which is popularly known as NID is an autonomous institution backed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry(GOI). NID is considered one of the most prestigious institutions for the aspirants of industrial, textile and IT integrated design & research. The institute is highly regarded and as a result, it has been recognized as the “Institution of National Importance” by the act of parliament in 2014. Here go some quick facts about NID: -NID has 3 campuses located in Ahmedabad(Gujarat), Gandhinagar(Gujarat), and Bengaluru(Karnataka) of which the Ahmedabad campus holds 29th rank in the world as per Global Fashion Institute Ranking 2017. However, NID has 5 more campuses in states like Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh but the three mentioned above are the most sought after. -NID conducts its entrance exam DAT (Design Aptitude Test) popularly known as ‘NEED’ once a year offering courses like B.Des(425 seats) & M.Des(347 seats). -NID is one of the few institutes across the world that offers 8 courses in the Bachelor of Design program and 19 courses in the Masters of Design Program across diverse disciplines. It basically helps nurture a culture of entrepreneurship in the creative minds of young designers. NDBI works with the objective of exploring commercial possibilities of creative ideas. Internationally, the National Institute of Design (NID) is regarded as one of the best educational and research organizations for Industrial, Communication, Textile, and IT Integrated (Experiential) Design. It is a statutory institute within the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. By virtue of the National Institute of Design Act 2014, it has been designated as an 'Institution of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. It is also recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization by the Indian government's Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.

NID's entrance exam Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is a National level entrance exam organized for admission to UG and PG courses separately by NID each year. These exams for B.Des and M.Des exams are conducted in various exam centers across India.
To select students for admission to its B.Des, M.Des, and GDPD programs, NID administers a two-stage entrance test called the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT). The NID DAT is divided into 2 stages: The NID DAT Prelims are held in the first stage, while the NID DAT Mains are held in the second stage.

Bachelor of Design (BDes), Graduate Diploma Program in Design (GDPD), Masters of Design (MDes), Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Design, Foundation Courses are UG courses, and International Programs through Research and International Workshops are among the courses available at NID's various campuses.
