What is the basic difference between courses at NATA & CEED?

The basic difference between NATA and CEED is they both take admission of different field. NATA is to take admission of those who wants to study Architecture and CEED is for candidates who wants to pursue designing courses. 

The other differentiations between NATA and CEED are-

  • Conducting body-

The conducting body for NATA is council of architecture (CoA) and for CEED, conducting body is Indian Institute of technology (IIT) 

What is NATA and CEED? 

About NATA

NATA, National aptitude test for architecture, is an entrance exam which is conducted by National Institute of advanced studies in architecture (NIASA) the body of council of Architecture in India. This entrance exam is a national level examination. Students who are willing to study Bachelor of architecture or some other relevant architecture courses at all recognized institutions across India, can give NATA after their 12th examination.
NATA measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability.

About CEED

IIT Bombay conducts CEED national level entrance which stands for common entrance examination for design to take admission to the M. Des and PhD courses offered by IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur. Also, the PhD course is available at several IITs and design schools.

Eligibility criteria for NATA and CEED

For NATA

  • You need to pass your 10+2 examination with mandatory subjects Physics, chemistry and maths from any recognised board. 
  • Or you should have 10+3 degree with mandatory subject mathematics. 
  • Moreover there are many colleges which accept NATA score. Or take admission on the basis of NATA results. So it is important to check the cut off of every colleges and institutions first. Different colleges has different NATA cut off. If you want to study in your preferred college you must match the cut off. You must score above 80-90% to study in a top notch college.

For CEED

  • There is no age limit to sit for CEED. They can participate in CEED as many time as they want. 
  • Candidates must have complete their 3 years degree or diploma or under graduate degree programme (after 10+2 level). 
  • Candidates who are going to appear in the final examination of a 3 years degree or diploma or under graduate programme, can apply for CEED. But in this case they must complete their qualifying exam before the time of admission, or must pass the GD Arts diploma programme (10+5 level) before admission.

These are the basic difference between NATA and CEED. But they both are accepted by IITs.
