ABOUT NID

NID is widely recognised as the best Indian institution for product design, product concept creation, and design innovation. NID instructs students in design and art, aesthetic sensibility, and design engineering principles. It focuses on product development, art, and aesthetics.

NID, which was founded in 1961, is renowned as being the most competitive design school in India. It only has 275 seats available in its M. Des programme and only about 100 seats in its B. Des programmes.

It is a legally recognised institution run by the Indian government's DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Due to the National Institute of Design Act of 2014, it has been designated by an Act of Parliament as a "Institution of National Importance."

NID is solely focused on design fields. There aren't many courses specifically focused on fashion. People work extensively in every design-related field, including fashion, motor vehicles, lifestyle, architecture, movies, cartoons, communication, and many more. They do not only focus on the fashion industry.

JOBS FOLLOWING A BACHELOR'S IN DESIGN (B.DES) FROM NID

Concerns with design are handled in an incredibly artistic, imaginative, inventive, and creative way. A curriculum leading to an undergraduate degree in the discipline of design is called Bachelor of Design (B.Des). The primary focus of the course is creating a particular component of a larger building or developing a shape, configuration, etc. The candidates have many options to secure a profession after completing this four-year programme. Candidates can choose from a number of specialisations in the course curriculum, including architecture, game design, jewellery & metal smithing, textile design, graphic design, and the design of buildings, machine components, clothing, and accessories.

JOBS IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR AFTER A BACHELOR OF DESIGN (B.DES)

The chances for B.Des graduates to get employment in the private sector are very good.

Numerous private businesses, including boutiques, hotels, the fashion media, the marketing industry, furniture manufacturing facilities, and quality control offices, among others, have numerous openings for B.Des graduates. As a cutting assistant, graphic designer, weaving consultant, illustrator, fashion merchandiser, costume designer, textile designer, fashion forecaster, entrepreneur, fashion stylist, design manager, colorist, or outside sales representative, one may work for these private companies.
