NID's entrance exam known as the Design aptitude test is conducted in two rounds .

Round 1 consists of the GAT and CAT parts (General aptitude tests and Creative aptitude test) also known as the 'Prelims'

GAT has questions from mathematical aptitude, logical reasoning, general knowledge, English, etc.

CAT has questions related to creativity, conceptualization, innovation in the use of colors, observation powers, design ability, illustration skill, etc.

This section has about 30 percent weightage in the selection process.

Only after you get through this round will you then be eligible for the 2nd round of entrance, that is the studio test or the 'Mains'.

The studio test includes a series of tests, like:

Doodle exercise,3D clay modeling, Wire molding, Thematic/psychometric test, Audio/Visual test, Interview and portfolio round, etc.

The NID studio test has a 70 percent weightage in the entire selection process. Only after getting through the NID mains, will you be allotted a campus based on your AIR.
