ABOUT NID 

NID stands for national Institute of design, which is undoubtedly the leading Institute of design in India. NID is nationally as well as internationally well acclaimed one of the finest educational and research institution which provide Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated Design courses both for under-graduates and post-graduates and doctoral levels.

What is NID PRELIMS? 

NID conduct an entrance examination called NID DAT which is a design aptitude test every year to take admission in B. Des and M. Des courses at NID. Candidates, willing to pursue design courses, must apply for NID DAT to get admission at NID.

NID DAT is divided in to two different parts: NID prelims and NID Mains.

  • NID PRELIMS

NID Prelims which is the written part of NID DAT. To do design course you need to clear NID prelims and then only you can sit for Mains. 

NID Prelims are divided into 2 sections: Common Design Aptitude Test and Discipline Specific Test. These two will happen together. Paper will consist Mix of objective and subjective types of questions of 100 marks in English language. 

Who can study in nid prelims

QUALIFICATION LEVEL FOR NID

For UD STUDENTS-

  • Candidates must pass their 10+2 examination with any stream from any recognised board state or national level. 

For PG students-

  • Candidates must graduate with any courses from any recognised university. 

HOW TO APPLY FOR NID PRELIMS

Step1. Go to the official website for NID and register yourself with your ID and Password. 
Step2. Log in into that site with your ID password. 
Step3. Open the application form tab. 
Step4. Fill up the application form with required details and documents. Such as-

  • Photograph (JPG/JPEG; not more than 100kb) 
  • Signature of candidates (JPG/JPEG; not more than 100kb)
  • Educational qualification details, communication details, etc
  • OBC-NCL certificate/ST certificate/SC certificate/EWS and disability certificate (it applied for general, general-EWS, OBC-NCL, ST/SC- PwD candidates) (JPG/JPEG; not more than 150kb) 
  • Copy of the first and last page of the passport only for overseas candidates (JPG; not more than 150kb) 

Step5. Pay the application fees. 

  • WITH LATE FEE:

For general/EWS/OBC-NCL – Rs.6000
ST/SC – Rs.3000
ST/SC/OBC-NCL-PWD – Rs.3000
General EWS/ General PWD – Rs.3000
Overseas candidates (only for B. Des) – Rs.10000

  • WITHOUT LATE FEE:

For general/EWS/OBC-NCL – Rs.3000
ST/SC – Rs.1500
ST/SC/OBC-NCL-PWD – Rs.1500
General EWS/ General PWD – Rs.1500
Overseas candidates (only for B. Des) – Rs.5000
Candidates have to pay the NID DAT application fee via online through net banking/credit card/debit.
Step6. Successful payment will take you to the confirmation page. 
Step7. Download the application form and rake a print out of it.
