Pearl Academy (formerly Pearl Academy of Fashion) is an Indian higher education institution. As of 2019, it is owned by the for-profit education group Global University Systems.
Pearl Academy of Fashion was founded in 1993 by the Little People Education Society House of Pearl Fashion. In 1995, Pearl began offering students degrees endorsed by the UK's Nottingham Trent University.
In July 2012, the University Grants Commission (India) ordered Pearl Academy to stop awarding joint degrees with Nottingham Trent University, citing "increasing complaints against private institutes".In 2015, concerns were raised about the validity of the programs provided by the institution after an alumna reported that the Association of Indian Universities “refused to recognize her degree from Pearl Academy.
Pearl Academy does not offer any of its study programs. Nottingham Trent University, UK, award the BA (Hons.) and MA degrees.
BA (H) and MA degrees issued by Nottingham Trent University do not receive a certificate of equivalence from AIU Students with these degrees/qualifications are eligible to transfer to any international university but are not eligible to transfer or progress to any deemed universities or any institutions recognized by UGC in India. Students with an NTU degree are encouraged to enrol in an Indian degree program through the open and distance learning mode if they wish to pursue postgraduate studies.
Yes, Pearl Academy offers internship opportunities to its Landscape Design students both on and off campus for 3-5 weeks.Based on the internship report submitted by the students, the course leader (CL) and one or more members of the course team evaluate the internship. Pearl Academy also offers internship opportunities to its B.Des and M.Design students.
