
NIRF 2023 Best Architecture and Planning Colleges: This year, two new schools entered the top 10 in the architecture and planning category: NIT Rourkela in eighth place and the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology University in Ahmedabad in ninth.
The Ministry of Education issued the list of top universities in accordance with the National Institutional Ranking Framework 2023 on Monday. This year, Architecture and Planning was added to the category's (subject domain) name. With a score of 83.21, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee took the top slot. The institute was the best the year before as well. Its score decreased slightly from 83.46 last year to 83.21 this year.
The second place was also held by the National Institute of Technology, Calicut. It received 78.18 points this year, an increase from 77.35 points the previous year. Like last year, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur took third position. IIT Kharagpur received 76.82 points, up from 75.42 the year before.
The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli advanced one spot from the previous year, earning 65.42 points to take fourth place this time around. The fifth-place finish of the New Delhi School of Planning and Architecture was a drop from the previous year.
The ranking of Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi significantly improved from ninth in 2022 to sixth in 2023. Ahmedabad's Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology University earned eighth place. It's a newcomer to the top 10; last year, it wasn't listed anywhere in the top 30.
National Institute of Technology Rourkela, another newcomer to the top 10 who wasn't in the top 30 the previous year, claimed the eighth position. Aligarh Muslim University moved up one notch to ninth place from last year's position of thirteen. The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, dropped four positions this year, from sixth to tenth.
