Indian Institute Of Fashion Technology's Fashionite 2022 comes to an end

The Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, a Limca Book of Records holder, held its 19th Fashionite 2022 with the theme Shadow of Style. It was a one-of-a-kind Annual Fashion Show in which their skilled 73 designers released over 144 imaginative ensembles on a specially created runway at Bangalore's Chowdiah Memorial Hall.

 

On the frigid night of November 25, 2022, there were more than 1000 attendees at a party. Dignitaries present at the event lit lamps to kick off the performance.

Dignitaries including Dr. Gopinath, Rtn. Subhashini, and Ms. Sandhya served as the evening's chief guests. Mrs. Viji, the IIFT's chief academic officer, extended warm welcomes to the distinguished visitors, renowned members, devout parents, animated and passionate academic instructors, students, and the print and electronic media industries.

Out of 73 applicants, the panel narrowed the field to 15 finalists using criteria including topic justice, swatch selections, color aesthetics, innovative shapes, presentation of collections with accessories, ornamentation, style, and originality.

 

Tribal art, in-demand fabrics, and highly intricate artwork

The show's themes covered traditional, ethnic, Western, Indo-Western, Greek, Egyptian, and tribal art, as well as diverse art genres. The colors utilized sent diverse meanings to the viewers. The fabrics used included Velvet, Lycra, Taffeta, Barso, Chiffon, Georgette, Silk, Jersey, Glass Tissue, Brocades, Jute Silk, Drill, Netted fabrics, and many more in-demand fabrics. Some of the garment designs were highly accessorized with headgears, handmade jewelry, and handmade footwear, and some had highly intricate embellishment and surface ornamentation such as Zardozi work, Kundan work, beadwork, Aari work, patchwork, quilling, traditional Indian embroideries, painting, and printing were incorporated to present trends combining the materials from different states.

 

The Award winners at Fashionite, 2022

Ms. Surpritha M G won the “IIFT Best Designer of the Year 2022” Award, Mr. Yathish S L won the Second Category of Awards, Ms. Niharika B R won the “Best Fashion Illustrator & Designer” Award, Mr.Charlee Vishal L won the “Best Designer Award in B.Sc Fashion & Apparel Design”, and Ms. Nischitha Y won the Second Runner up for “Best Designer Award”. Ms. N V Varshini got the award for the “Best Designer-Non Textile”. The third category of awards was won by Ms. Shwetha H R and Ms. Geetha Priya G.

 

Greeshma S won the first runner-up spot for the “Best Designer Award” with her theme PAITHANI, which was based on Maharastrian Textile. Sambavi H. was named the Second Runner-Up. Five students studying fashion design and boutique management—Deepthi Bharadwaj, Rashmi H. S., Maheshwari G., Mamta, and Vibha—received the award for best collection in the fourth category.

 

Award ceremony to honor the BSc rank holders.

To celebrate the bearers of the BSc rank, there was also an award ceremony. The exhibition of inventiveness put on by their wards and loved ones enthralled and charmed the audience. The event was a sight to behold, with designers, models, and national and international celebrities.
