The B. Design course in Human Technology is quickly gaining popularity at a time when artistic creativity, along with a passion for technology and business are combined to create user-friendly solutions that make people's daily lives easier.
The 4-year undergraduate B.Des. (Humanising Technology) program at SVKM's NMIMS School of Design is AICTE-approved and combines design, technology, and cognitive and behavioral sciences to effectively meet business and social needs.
It offers a transdisciplinary and all-encompassing design curriculum with a user-centric focus that gives design education a human touch. The program's goal is to provide students with multi-stream skill sets and knowledge that will enable them to visualize 2D, 3D, and 5D experiences. Careers360 ranks the school fifth in Maharashtra and eleventh in India for design schools in 2022.
The school's pedagogy is interactive and experiential, and in addition to knowledgeable industry professionals, lessons are delivered by a highly qualified and trained faculty. The students are encouraged to apply themselves, be curious, and ‘learn by doing’.
This has resulted in a steady outflow of graduates who are not only artistic and creative, but also possess the ability to think strategically. The SVKM’s NMIMS School of Design is equipped with state-of-the-art studios, workshops, and modern labs like the Tinkering lab, Rapid Prototyping lab, XR (Extended Reality), and a usability lab for hands-on experience.
Internship experiences
Moreover, the business offers internships to students, giving them the chance to learn design fundamentals on the job. This experience opens up many doors and career options in a variety of fields, including consulting, hospitality, IT, banking, healthcare, education, and tourism, among others. For the second term in a row, the School of Design at NMIMS has a 100% placement rate, with students being hired by prestigious businesses. One of the new employers, Walmart Global Technology Services India Private Ltd, gave a compensation worth Rs. 20, 27,100 for the position of Associate Designer..
Referring to the course, Dr. Arundhati Guha Thakurta, Faculty In-Charge, NMIMS School of Design, commented, “A fine balance of creative abilities and analytical thinking is important for a lifelong problem solver. The school, with its transdisciplinary, value-based design education, equips the students with a global perspective in the competitive design world, inculcating an entrepreneurial mindset.
