The NID Design Aptitude Test, or NID DAT as it is more generally known, is a two-tier design admission test that comprises a preliminary exam and a mains examination. Every year, a nationwide entrance exam is held to select candidates for admission to NIDs campuses' B.Des and M.Des programs. The purpose of the NID DAT is to evaluate applicants' knowledge, competence, and behavioral capabilities. The results of the NID DAT are the only factor used to determine admission to NID.
NID Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam all offer the four-year BDes programs, while NID Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bengaluru provide 2-year MDes programs.
