NIFT Srinagar and Handicrafts & Handloom Jammu Collaborate on a Strategic Packaging Design Solution

Handicrafts & Handloom Jammu and NIFT Srinagar teams to develop a strategic packaging design solution.

 

Srinagar, Feb 10 (KNN) The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar and the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a strategic and appealing package design solution for branding Jammu Handicraft and Handloom products.

The goal is to increase this sector's immense potential for growth, export, wealth creation, and job creation.

 

Designing Creative and Sustainable Packaging as a Branding Campaign for Jammu's Handicrafts and Handloom Sector

The project is named "Designing creative and sustainable packaging as a branding campaign for Jammu's handicrafts and handloom sector" and the agreement was signed at Udyog Bhawan.

Dr. Vikas Gupta, director of Jammu's Handicrafts and Handloom, and Dr. Javid Ahmed Wani, director of Srinagar's National School of Fashion Technology, both signed the agreement.

Speaking at the event, Prashant Goyal expressed his appreciation for the effort put forth to enter into an MoU with NIFT Srinagar, noting that having professionally designed packaging prototypes that are in line with consumer demand would undoubtedly boost product sales relative to the wages of our artisans and weavers.

 

Supporting Craftsmen and Weavers in Jammu and Kashmir

The Government of India is prepared to help the craftsmen and weavers of Jammu and Kashmir in any way possible, according to Rohit Kansal, the Union Additional Secretary for the Ministry of Textiles and the Director General of NIFT.

He suggested that they may provide these artists with training programs to help them improve their craft and promote their products more effectively.

 

The Collaboration  - The Aim of the Project

The project aims to provide a plan for developing distinctive and sustainable packaging to enhance the value of Jammu cottage industry artifacts.

Together with identifying the unique selling feature of the chosen Jammu Handicraft and Handloom products, this will provide an original packaging presentation that meets international standards.
