NSDC, Medhavi Skills University, and INIFD Established a Tripartite Alliance to Promote Skills-Based Education in the Fashion and Interior Design Fields.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Medhavi Skills University (MSU), and the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote design education in India. Attendees include Mr Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC, Mr Anil Khosla, CEO of INIFD, and Mr Pravesh Dudani, Founding Chancellor of Medhavi Skills University.

 

 

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Medhavi Skills University (MSU), and the Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) to improve design education in India. The CEO of NSDC, Mr. Ved Mani Tiwari, the CEO of INIFD, Mr. Anil Khosla, and the Founding Chancellor of Medhavi Skills University, Mr. Pravesh Dudani, all signed the MoU.

 

Academic Credit-Backed Courses

Medhavi Skills University, an awarding body under the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), will work with INIFD to create academic credit-backed courses leading to professional Degrees and Diplomas in the Design field, including Fashion Design and Interior Design.

 

In accordance with the MoU, the three parties will work together to create and develop cutting-edge short-term courses in the areas of fashion design, interior design, and the beauty and wellness industry. Together, MSU and NSDC will certify these courses, with MSU serving as the anchor institution and NSDC offering general direction and advice.

 

A Collaboration Between INIFD and MSU

Candidates' enrollment in, as well as the operation and management of, these new courses will be greatly aided by INIFD, with its wide network of design institutes throughout India and abroad. INIFD and MSU will also work together to offer students enrolled in various degree and diploma programmes at MSU chances for on-the-job learning that is pertinent to the industry.

 

This partnership also seeks to give the INIFD courses credit equivalency in accordance with the National Credit Framework (NCrF) requirements, permitting multiple entry and exits as well as the transition from the vocational stream to higher education routes. The programme supports National Education Policy 2020.

 

As part of the Government of India's Digital Skill India initiative, INIFD and MSU will also collaborate to design, produce, and curate cutting-edge digital courses in the field of design. The Skill India Digital Platform, located at https://www.skillindiadigital.gov.in, will house these digital courses to enable design education reach a wider audience.

 

 

In collaboration with NSDC and MSU, INIFD will also build a Centre of Excellence that will focus on developing talent in the areas of fashion and interior design. Candidates will be trained by the Centre of Excellence in preparation for employment and movement abroad.

 

Hands-on Experiences and Industry-Relevant Skills

This strategic agreement is anticipated to have a large positive impact on India's design education market, giving students more hands-on experience and industry-relevant skills while fostering the development of a skilled labour force for the country's expanding economy.

 

"INIFD Guwahati has started the academic session for 2023-2024 as per the NEP, 2020 and will be providing the three year and four year degree programme as a step taking which coincidences the new and vibrant means of Education," said Chinki Agarwal, director of INIFD Guwahati centre, at the occasion.
