On March 12, 2023, at Jio World Garden in Mumbai, the Lakme Fashion Week finale featured a brand-new rendition of "First Cut" by fashion and design education powerhouse Pearl Academy.
The showcase titled 'Heart to Earth' will see 32 students from across Pearl Academy's Bangalore, Delhi, Jaipur, and Mumbai locations in India perform one distinct ensemble each.
The event is a component of the FDCI x Pearl Academy "First Cut" project, which provides young, up-and-coming designers and fashion students with a venue to present their works at prestigious fashion weeks.
Aditi Srivastava, the head of Pearl Academy, indicated in a statement regarding the students' presentation, “‘First Cut’ is a definitive platform for the final year students of Pearl Academy to launch their graduating collections in key industry platforms like these. Our students across campuses will showcase their impressive collections rooted in the theme “Heart to Earth” by making individual statements on how fashion is caring.”
Sunil Sethi, chairman of FDCI highlighted, “The students will be tomorrow’s changemakers and our long-standing partnership with Pearl Academy is a testament to that belief. As a platform, we have always believed in fostering creativity and providing a forum for up-and-coming designers to showcase their works to the design and fashion community. We are excited to see these talented students showcase their creations.”
The Jio Gardens in Bombay are presently hosting Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI, which will end on March 12.
