
Governor R.N. Ravi spoke to NIFT graduates in Chennai and urged them to use their efforts to advance the nation.
On Friday, Governor Ravi gave a speech to the National Institute of Fashion Technology's graduating class in Chennai. He emphasized that by 2047, when India will commemorate 100 years of independence, the nation must be self-sufficient and developed. Reviving India's rich history and culture is critical to this progress, he added.
The Historical Importance and Long History of the Indian Textile Industry
Mr. Ravi emphasized the significance of the textile industry in India and its long history. The Governor highlighted that, until the 18th century, India had the world's largest textile industry, exporting cloth all over the world and even dressing prominent Roman senators. He went on to say that many world-famous weaves, such as muslin, originated in India, bringing vast amounts of gold into the country. He urged the students to advance the nation with their endeavors, reminding them that they were only as big as their dreams.
Degrees in management, technology, and design were awarded to 263 students across seven undergraduate and two master's programs. 34 students received medals for achieving academic excellence and program excellence.
