What is the NID Entrance Exam?
The National Institute of Design (NID) conducts the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT), a nationwide entrance examination, to select applicants for admission to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) programs provided by the participating institutes.
NID Entrance Exam is considered to be among the Top 10 Design Entrance Exams in India and is sought after among the Design Aspirants.
The Design Aptitude Test comprises two steps:
DAT Prelims - The candidate first appears in the Prelims exam.
DAT Mains - The scores of DAT Prelims are used to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains.
The B.Des program is now offered at the FIVE NID campuses in Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam, with a total of 425 seats available. The M.Des program, meanwhile, has 347 seats available across its THREE campuses, NID Ahmedabad, NID Gandhinagar, and NID Bangalore. *This information is subject to change as per the regulatory authority, therefore, applicants are mandated to check the brochure before filling out the application form.

NID DAT Exam Pattern:
The NID has a two-stage exam procedure.
The applicant must appear for the DAT Prelims. Shortlisted students must take the DAT Mains exam in the second stage.
Once The DAT Prelims exam is over, and the applicants who qualify then must take the DAT Mains exam.

For the M.Des, the DAT Mains will additionally contain a Personal Interview, while the DAT Mains for the B.Des will include a Studio Test.

NID Complete Admission Process:
NID Admission Process is a complete 6 step procedure that you must follow, as mentioned below:
- Filling of NID DAT Application Form
- Download NID DAT Admit Card
- Appear for NID DAT Prelims
- Check NID Prelims Results and on qualifying
- Appear for NID DAT Mains
- Check NID Final Merit List

Step 1: Filling of Application Form
The application, must be filed online at admissions.nid.edu. to complete the application, register, upload supporting documentation, and pay the application fee.
Step 2: Download Admit Card
After Successfully submitting the application form applicants can download the admit card.
Step 3: Appear for DAT Prelims Exam:
DAT Prelims, the initial stage of NID admissions, is a written exam that includes both objective- and subjective-type questions. The test will be conducted offline using paper and pencil (pencil).
Step 4: Check NID DAT Prelims Results
By inputting one's email address, date of birth, and roll number/application number, one can verify the results for the DAT Prelims. Candidates will be selected for the DAT Mains based on their DAT Prelims scores.
Step 5: Download DAT Mains Admit Card
Candidates who have successfully qualified the NID DAT Prelims can now download their admit card for NID DAT Mains.
Step 6: Appear for DAT Mains Exam
Candidates for the B.Des program will have to appear for the Studio Test, while candidates for the M.Des degree must also appear in an online interview round in addition to the Studio Test portion of the DAT Mains. Aspirants are given practical assignments to accomplish in the allotted time during the studio test for NID admissions.
Step 7: Check the Final Merit List
The final merit list for NID admissions is created using a candidate's performance in the NID DAT (Prelims) and NID DAT (Mains) exams. The merit list for NID admissions is available on the exam's official website for candidates.

How to Fill out the NID Application Form
Step 1: Getting Registered
The Applicant must first Register with the details like their Email ID, Mobile Number etc.
Step 2: Filling the Application Form
Applicants then have to fill all the mandatory fields like their personal details, Academics details, and contact information.
Step 3: Uploading of the required Documents
Scanned copies of essential documents including photograph, signature, and academic documents have to be uploaded in the specified format.
Step 4: Paying of the Application Fees
The Application Fees has to be rendered in online mode with various options to choose from.
