NIFT stands for the National Institute of Fashion Technology was established in the year 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. NIFT is a expert Institution in fashion education which provide integrate knowledge, traditional arts, contemporary thought, academic freedom, innovations in design and technology and creative thinking. NIFT, today, has spread its wings across the length and breadth of the country with its 17 campuses all over India.
NIFT conducts entrance examination for the candidates who are seeking for admission to the B. Des and M. Des courses. The selection process will be based on NIFT examination score. There are two entrance examination organise by NIFT which are- General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT).
NIFT CAT represent to test the creative side of the candidates, which is very crucial for the candidates to have. Qualifying CAT will allow them for the next parts. For B. Des, weightage for CAT is 50% and for M. Des, the weightage is 40%. This test is to judge the intuition skill, power of observation, innovation in development of a concept and design ability of the candidate.
