WHAT IS NID? 

NID stands for National Institute of design, is nationally as well as internationally one of the finest educational and research institution which provide Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated Design courses both for under-graduates and post-graduates and doctoral levels.
National Institute for design is the first design Institute in India established by Indian government, Ford Foundation and the Sarabhai family  in the year 1961 at Ahmedabad. It was an autonomous all-India body. NID has been ranked as India’s No. 1 Design Institute.

 NID has total 7 campuses. Each campuse offer different course. Some has B. Des diplomas and some dont. Some has M. Des diplomas and some dont. So here are those campuses and pg courses offer by them. 

  • NID AHMEDABAD- Name of the MDes courses- Animation film design, film and video communication, graphic design, product design, textile design, ceramic glass design. 
  • NID GANDHINAGAR- MDes courses such as Apparel design, lifestyle accessory design, new media design, photography design, strategic design management, transportation and automobile design, toy and game design. 
  • NID BANGALORE- MDes courses such as Retail experience, digital game design, Information design, interaction design, universal design. 
  • NID ANDHRAPRADESH- Dont offer M. Des course
  • NID MADHYA PRADESH- Dont offer M. Des course
  • NID HARYANA- Dont offer M. Des course
  • NID ASSAM- Dont offer M. Des course. 

Approx fees for PG course at NID

  • 2 years of M. Des course on furniture and interior design, graphic design, product design, textile design, animation film design, film and video communication, ceramic and glass design- ₹ 428,400 per year. (annual fees- ₹ 9,39,800) 

STEPS FOR FILLING UP APPLICATION FORM FOR NID:

  1. Fill in NID DAT application form after registering yourself to the NID website. Upload the documents as per requirements. And pay the registration fee. 
  2. Download the admit card for NID DAT prelims as per given dates from website. 
  3. Appear for NID Prelims. Examination Duration for B. Des is 3hours and M. Des is 2½ hours. Candidates have to answer total 26 number of both subjective and objective questions of 100 marks. B. Des will be pen and paper based and M. Des will be online test. 
  4. Check the result of NID DAT prelims as per the given date. Scores of NID DAT Prelims will shortlist candidates for NID DAT Mains.
  5. Download NID DAT mains admit card from the website as per the given date. 
  6. Appear for NID mains. NID mains consists 2 sections such as Studio test and personal interview. Studio test includes Drawing/model-making questions of 100 marks.
  7. Check the NID DAT mains results from the official website.
