How Do I Start preparing for FDDI Entrance Exam?

Hi Riya! To prepare yourself for any kind of design entrance exam you need to check the eligibility criteria first. Then you must check all the syllabus and the exam pattern and find good books according to that. Start preparing, practice everyday. Find a good coaching if you want to take any guidance. Lets see how you going to prepare for FDDI. 

What is FDDI and its entrance exam? 

FDDI stands for Footwear Design & Development Institute is a design Institute which offers professional programmes in Footwear Design , Leather Goods & Accessory Design , Fashion Design , and Retail & Fashion Merchandise.

FDDI conducts a national level entrance examination All India Selection Test (AIST) to offer admission to interested candidates. The examination is known as FDDI AIST. The admission in any courses at FDDI is based on the score of FDDI AIST.

FDDI take admission on the basis of some other entrance exams such as UCEED, MAT etc.

How to prepare for FDDI AIST? 

1. Check the eligibility criteria

  • Candidates must have passed or appeared in the 10+2 examination in any stream from any recognized board such as CBSE, IB, ICSE, or others. 
  • Candidates who are Appearing for their Higher Secondary examination are eligible, but they need to give proof of having appeared for the examination during the Counselling part. 
  • Final year graduation candidates can also apply, but they need to show their graduation degree or final mark sheet to their admission officer.
  • Candidates with the age of 25 year in between 25th June 2023 only, are eligible. 
  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • proficiency in English, both written and oral is must which will help them during interview part. 

 

2. Know about exam pattern and syllabus

FDDI AIST is a 2 and half hour's pen and paper based examination. The exam is of 200 marks which consist 150 questions and the medium of exam is in English.

  • For B. Des- Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability, General Awareness, General Knowledge, Visualisation, Colour and composition. Total number of question is 150. Total marks obtain 200.
  • For M. Des- Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension & Analytical Ability, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, General Awareness, Visualisation, Colour and composition. Total number of question is 175. Total marks obtain 200.

3. Choose books! 

  • Here are some good books for quantitative aptitude- how to prepare for Quantitative aptitude by Arun sharma,  quantitative aptitude and logical reasoning by RS Agarwal. 
  • For verbal ability- high school English grammar and composition by Wren and martin,  word power made easy by Norman Lewis. 
  • For general awareness- read news papers like The Hindu and general awareness magazines. 
  • For business aptitude and design aptitude- 9th and 12th standard commerce book of ICSE board. For management aptitude test and analytical ability- a modern approach to logical reasoning by RS Aggarwal, analytical reasoning by MK Pandey. 

4. Collect Sample paper! 

Books wont be enough to practice, you should download the previous year questions and sample papers to practice. Give mock tests to know about time management. Get into some coaching if you need guidance. 

5. Set a goal! 

Know what cut off marks they wants. Try to achieve above the cut off score. 

6. Practice drawing! 

Creative part of the entrance exam will judge you creativity skills and drawing skills as well. So you should keep polishing you creative side everyday. Develop your own art work portfolio.
