About AIEED

What is AIEED?

The All India Entrance Examination for Design (AIEED) is conducted by Arch College of Design and Business in order to admit students to both its undergraduate and postgraduate design programs. For undergraduate and graduate design courses, AIEED screenings are held. AIEED was introduced in 2010, and ARCH has been using it annually to shortlist students for the college's various courses ever since. AIEED was transformed into an online screening in 2011. Thereby assisting interested aspirants to engage in the screening process from any remote location with ease.

It is among the Best Design Entrance Exams in India in which it gauge a student's "aesthetic sense, inventiveness, and design sensitivity as they pursue rewarding careers in the various sectors of design. According to the official website, it also evaluates the student's aptitude for logical reasoning and problem-solving.

 

AIEED Exam Pattern

Candidates must use the online testing format for the AIEED 2023. The AIEED 2023 exam format requires students to complete 45 to 50 questions in three hours. The exam carries a 200 point maximum score.

The purpose of the Creative Ability Test(CAT) and the General Ability Test(GAT)  is to evaluate a candidate's design sensibility, creativity, problem-solving abilities, logical thinking, and understanding of global issues.

There are questions in both Hindi and English on the AIEED exam question paper. Either language may be used to respond to the AIEED offline exam. However, only English can be used to respond to the online test.

 

AIEED GAT Exam Pattern

Candidates are assessed based on their design sensitivities, logical thinking, design-related awareness, awareness of global challenges, and conceptual understanding in this section. Candidates have two hours to complete 60 questions on this exam. In this AIEED GAT, candidates may earn up to 100 total marks.

AIEED CAT Exam Pattern

Candidates are assessed in this phase based on their written and visual articulation abilities, design thinking, lateral thinking, creative problem-solving, and awareness of design concepts. Candidates have three hours to complete 50 questions on this exam. The maximum score an applicant can achieve on the AIEED CAT is 200.

AIEED Video, Interview and Portfolio Interaction

Candidates are assessed in this phase based on their level of focus, clarity, general articulation skills, depth of thought, and the breadth of their work samples. Candidates are scored out of 200 marks during these tests, which last 30 minutes.

AIEED Entrance Exam Syllabus

AIEED Eligibility Criteria

AIEED Eligibility Criteria varies for both UG and PG Programs as illustrated below:

AIEED UG Eligibility (4 Years Program Duration)

Educational Qualification

Aspirants who have appeared for/cleared their Class 10+2 from CBSE/ ICSE/ IB/ State Board/ NIOS or equivalent board as per UGC guidelines are eligible for admissions.

Students appearing for their Class 10+1 exam can also appear for AIEED. Such candidates will be eligible for direct admission in the academic session commencing in 2023 provided they clear the interaction and PoA (Portfolio of Abilities) stage.

 

Age Limit:

“As per Pearson-Edexcel norms, all students 16 years and above are eligible for the International Undergraduate level course and can, therefore, also apply.

 

PG Programs (2 Years)

Candidates with a graduate degree or those waiting for their graduate degree can apply to the programs offered at ARCH Academy as long as they are attending a university that is accredited.

AIEED Admission Process

All the aspirants and candidates have to follow the below-mentioned important steps to complete the admission process:

 

STEP 1: AIEED Application Form Filling

AIEED applications can be submitted online by aspirants. A candidate must fill out an application form on the ARCH Academy of Design's official website in order to be considered for the AIEED exam. The application fee can also be paid online with a debit card, credit card, internet banking, or other payment platform gateways options.

 

STEP 2: AIEED Admit Card Download

Students must access the college's official website to download their AIEED exam admission cards. Seven days prior to the online or offline exam (depending on the candidate's preference), admit cards are available for download. Additionally, applicants who have registered their mobile numbers receive a link with their AIEED 2023 admission card.

 

STEP 3: Appear for the AIEED Entrance Exam

 Series 1 and Series 2 are the two phases of the AIEED. The Series 2 entrance exam is only held if there are open seats for admission, aspirants must be aware. The AIEED exam must be taken online by candidates. Three slots will be available for candidates to choose from when they want to take the AIEED exam. Usually the 3 Slots are:

Option 1: 10 am to 1 pm

Option 2: 2 pm to 5 pm

Option 3: 6 pm to 9 pm

A4 size blank sheets of paper (15 sheets to answer the drawing oriented questions), pencil & eraser, dry Colour media (colour pencil/ crayons/ oil pastels etc), steel scale. Cutter, scissors, glue stick, Black & blue pens (for the CAT exam).

Other Minimum Software required on Computer

Microsoft Windows XP Professional or any other upgraded Operating System (Win 7 or above) Microsoft Word.

Power Connection

Ensure desktop computer is connected to an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) System during the examination. In case using a laptop, keep it fully charged & connected to a power supply during exam.

 

 

STEP 4: Appear for the Interview and Portfolio Round

Shortlisted applicants have to appear for an interview and portfolio round at this level of the AIEED admissions process. Candidates must complete the tasks listed below to advance to the next round:

Make a Video

This is an important part of the new admission screening process. Based on the Questionnaire file send applicants needs to make a video of themselves and send it to ARCH Academy.

Show Portfolio

The portfolio needs to be shared with the design school before the interview round. A Portfolio is the visiting card of the candidate, speaking of their interests & abilities and is a collection of any previous creative work done by the candidate in the form of illustrations, sketches, photographs, essays, prose etc, even films & slideshows that can be shown on a mobile phone.

Skype Interaction

On a Scheduled date and time applicant will have a Skype Interview with Arch's Panel of Experts Candidates failing to appear for an interview session would not be considered for admission.

 

STEP 5: AIEED Results

The result of AIEED Exam will be declared on the official exam website of ARCH Academy of Design. Candidates will be selected for admission based on their performance in:

  • Previous educational field       
  • AIEED exam result 
  • Interview+Portfolio

AIEED Exam Test Centers are notified on the admission portal or the admission brochure, which the candidate must follow. And while filling out the AIEED Application Form the candidate must follow the instructions can select 3 AIEED Test Centers as per their preference.
